Balatonfüred was a popular dwelling place and holiday centre as early as the previous centuries and today, due to the fast, large-scale tourism developments of the town, it is beginning to gain back its original atmosphere redolent with times past, combined with modern-age content, much to the delight of guests from Hungary and abroad.
The Gombás Mansion, which was built at the end of the 18th and at the beginning of the 19th century in late Baroque and Rococo style and used as a wine-house and summer residence, is one of the oldest sights of Balatonfüred and also the one with the most significant artistic value.
The building complex is situated at the foot of the picturesque Mt. Thomas, along the so-called 'Roman road' and has a view on the lake lying 800 metres below as well as on the range of hills stretching behind.
Based mostly on family resources and partly on competition funds, the Gombás Mansion went through a complete restoration and modernization in 2006 and 2007. As a result, it was converted into a first-class mansion-hotel, the quality of which has been admired by guests as well. The intimacy and charm of the U-shape building is mixed with a sort of modern content and interior design from the 21st century and hopefully it will be a unforgettable experience for visitors who are welcome all year round.
With the help of our communal rooms (wine-cellars, banqueting hall, education room, drink bar, etc.) it is an ideal place for friendly and company events, trainings, courses as well as birthday and wedding programmes. All the rooms are furnished in a luxurious way, some of them in a more modern while others in a more 'antique' style.
The total capacity of the pension is enough for about 30 people. 11 double rooms can be found in the main building (some of them are also available as a 2 or 3-bedroomed, elegant apartment with a kitchen), while each of the two outbuildings has 2 apartments with a kitchenette.
The majority of our rooms and communal places are non-smoking areas. Separate rooms with a bathroom and other facilities all meeting standards for physically disabled people, are also available.
In the nicely-kept, grass-covered back yard, besides safe parking places, a sun terrace with beds, garden furniture and barbecue facilities offer leisure time activities, while children can also find the right way to let off steam (a small playground, table tennis, badminton, etc.).
Our wellness section a Finnish sauna for 8 people and an infra-sauna for 3 people ensure relaxation and recreation. Upon arrangement, several-session or occasional massage and BIOPTRON lamp treatments are available for the well-being of our guests.
In all likelihood, the range of our services will be extended in 2007: we are planning to build a Jacuzzi and a garden pool and hopefully we will be able to open our restaurant with a unique atmosphere and also our vinotheque.
